lemon and fries

I knew I needed the break from work, school and blogging. However I don’t know if I was able to get it last week. Sure I was on leave from my regular job for 7 days, my web design course was finally over and I usually had to spend more time taking pictures rather than blog. But I was under training wherein I had to maximize my time learning the ropes as well as blogging more often and understanding the concepts of another line of work. It was great yet the pressure is on. I know I deserved the temporary vacation but I’m just curious on how long I can keep this up.

got back from a break

I just got back from Dumaguete for a temporary break and to discuss a new business venture. I don’t really know what’s going to happen. My mind just doesn’t respond the way I want it to. But I would definitely want to be part of something that can grow better.

After the whole four-hour trip, I went straight to the office despite my being on-leave to finish sending a report that’s due today.

Now I’m here in SM so I could finish and continue my classes in Web Design for the next 3 hours.

I’m not that tired but I feel nauseous probably because of the bus ride from Liloan, Santander to the Cebu proper.

You can say that I’m used to it already. The business and the busyness of having to work and study and blog at the same time. I even wonder how I am able to do it. Maybe I just don’t really ask myself too much and just get on with it so I won’t even have to think too much.

Small Talk Updated

Just wanted to Update the Small Talk in my Sidebar only because it needs some.

School
I’m now taking a Web Design course wherein I spend 3 hours from Monday to Friday for 2 months. I am under a government scholarship which makes me one lucky bastard as I don’t have to pay for anything as of the moment. I wish to improve my skills in designing websites as I want to get serious in also creating and understanding Photoshop and Dreamweaver. Hopefully I’ll learn something.

Office
I’m still working in a business process outsourcing company but now I work on the day shift. Though I’m supposed to have more time to sleep, I usually still don’t get enough rest because of my body clock still adjusting the extra hours that I have.

Blog
I have  5 blogs in total and I more or less update on a weekly basis unless. 5 blogs is really tough but I’m still able to manage. I still earn while blogging.

In my spare time I travel to places, going to the beach to unwind and de-stress; only to be bombarded with Monday-shift blues. It’s been a roller coaster, but it still hasn’t reached its stop. So while it still hasn’t ended, I’m just here enjoying the ride. Peace out!

chucks for school

I usually wear sneakers when I go to school. It’s comfy and I don’t have to worry running to and fro the office. I plan to use slippers one of these days but I shouldn’t have any work at the office as I have to work first before I go to school. Anyway, chucks for school is really a great and comfortable way to go.

I’m planning to get some Sanuk shoes next.

my employer paid for my school!

My company gave me 40K in 3 months!

I just want to post this out. The company where I work offers assistance for education to its regular employees. I’m very happy that I’m one of the few people who was able to take advantage of this program. It helped save a lot of money on my part just because I haven’t finished my degree. I was able to maximize the time that I had in order to get the full amount per year. I’m really glad because not all companies take care of their employees like this does, especially with the global crisis going on. It has helped me a lot, you can’t just get 40, 000 pesos anywhere.

To think that my employer paid for my school is really something to be proud of. Of course, the money that I saved was used for something else which is really great! That’s why I’d like to thank you for this chance!

So I’m not schooling

This semester because of the many activities that I’ll be focusing myself to. I’ll be saving for the rainy days that will be coming and I’m making sure that I’ll be able to come up with enough cash to finance or pay old debts and bring my financial accounts to current and updated state.

Sure I may have all the excuses of not finishing school or continuing it  to the least, but hey, I’m still going to study some short term courses in the mean time. I still want to know how to develop my skills in blogging and the web.

I just hope my plans all go through accordingly now.

last week for enrollment

I’m almost decided not to go to school. It’s the last week of the extension of the enrollment period. I only have two days left to decide if ever I want to continue schooling the course that I took (AB Economics) or just wait for another program and save in the process. I know I shouldn’t worry about monetary problems as I can use my company’s scholarship grant to pay for it but still, I want to maximize my time by studying something that I want to learn from rather than just waste my time in a classroom with students who call me their older brother because I’m old enough to be one.

I want to try studying a short internet or multimedia course for a month so I can test if it will benefit the skills that I’ve already acquired through blogging and being addicted to the internet. I like the fact that I’ve gained a lot of knowledge out of nowhere just because of continuing to write and create websites. But I want to pursue these sidelines as a passion that I can share to other people. It’s just that I know I should be able to decide right away.

But we can never tell; I may suddenly be enrolled tomorrow or the next day. My decisions come out of the blue and we’ll never know what will happen next. Let God give me guidance.

ETEEAP for working professionals

I called a different school as I saw an advertisement on tv about them having an accelerated program designed for working professionals who haven’t finished their degree to finally get one in a short period of time. Cebu Institute of Technology (CIT) is offering an Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program or ETEEAP. As I was browsing online for more information, I stumbled upon other schools offering the same program, University of San Jose Recoletos (USJR) and University of Cebu (UC).

I called the school up to inquire about the mechanics on how to take advantage of this educational scheme and they said I would need to have a minimum of 5 years worth of work experience to qualify.

I actually have 3 years worth of experience in the call center industry and 1 year’s worth in fast food restaurants. I’m wondering if I qualify since I also worked for our family business before that now folded up. I still need to get evaluated but this offer opened my eyes to the possibility of getting that much-sought after diploma that I’ve been wanting ever since my batchmates (some of them anyway) graduated.

I’m still waiting for University of San Carlos (USC) to implement the same program since this where I’m currently studying. It’s already the extension of the enrollment week or the adjustment period but I’m not too sure if I want to enroll when I was already decided when I went to the university. I have too many options to think about and I feel lost again since I want to just save and save or find a short course so I can develop other skills in the mean time while waiting for my work experience to mature (only need one more year or less).

Now I’m almost decided to not go to regular school. By the way, I chanced upon this forum in Istorya.NET about the said curriculum. They said, USJR has the best ETEEAP program, I’m not sure if it’s within the country or within the region. Anyway, you can just follow the thread to check at how these two posters argued about the amount of the program. Click here to get some comic relief.

decide decide

Should I or should I not go back to school? Hahay. I wonder what to do. It’s the conflicting emotions running through my head again. If ever I go back to school, I’d like to shift to another course again. But I don’t know what will happen yet, if there are a number of students on campus and I’ll be stressed again to go over the process of shifting or enrolling this semester. I’m already tired from my work that I have drag my ass off to the departments so I can look at schedules that would match and wouldn’t ruin my routine (unlike what happened to me last time).

Oh well, as usual, we’ll see what will happen. I know I should be able to decide now but again, I’m just waiting for something which can actually lead to nothing.

official print out of grades

Went to the Main Campus of University of San Carlos and got my final print out of my grades (finally!). I headed to the department chair after my work at the office and talked with the head.

I’m an Economics major (go figure) but I have plans to shift to another course since the Commerce department closed out all their applications for new students and shifters because of the number that applied last semester. I’m not too sure right now if I’m going to continue this course as I just want something that will make me go through college fast.

When I talked the chairman, he asked me if I work outside. I told him yes and that I work in a call center. He replied “Good, cause we’re conducting a study.” but he didn’t expound further. I just nodded my head cause I wanted to sleep already since I just travelled to the campus because of that piece of paper.

He also asked if I wanted to pursue my major or if I’ll shift this coming school year, I told him that I’ll have a month’s time to decide. Oh well,at least now I have something to present to HR as proof of my grades.
