boiling points

This is a long and angry post so beware. A series of unfortunate events. Petty, nevertheless they gave me a headache or two in more ways than one.

Scene 1: Cafeteria

Bought some food so I could eat my brunch at school since I never had breakfast and I was fucking too hungry to even think. Anyway, I was lining up properly like any dutiful student and when I paid my bill to the cashier, I asked for some soy sauce and some vinegar. I actually bought some dry veggies and some fried fish. Now, I like my dry viands to come with those two as my condiments. But they didn’t have any vinegar.

When I asked them about it, they just told me they didn’t have any. When I followed up a question on WHY, they just ignored me. I wanted to just burst out and show them that this shouldn’t be the case. They should always have something prepared for people who have different preferences. It’s not like I’m asking for the world, I just wished they had some. I don’t like eating dry food without some additional seasoning for added taste. I’m supposed to be a customer.

The problem has always been like this, they run out of either the other. The worse thing is that they a just reply with a shrug or two without even apologizing for the lack of supply. They would just think that I’m like any other student who still doesn’t know anything; and that’s what I don’t like. Makes me question sometimes, do we regard seasonings and condiments as privileges or necessities whenever we eat outside?

Note: Upon typing and rereading this portion, it seemed like I seemed so shallow to be angry at a small issue. To think that I used to be in their shoes (serving customers). Just that when I was the one serving, I put myself in the customer’s shoes. Customer service is another bloggable topic to write about especially how we demand for it.

Scene 2: Library

I went up to the Engineering building in order to get some photocopies of a module that our Psyc1 teacher told us to study on. Since I’m a dutiful student (again) and I don’t like being left out because I’m enjoying every minute of that subject, I wanted to have complete documents even if I would have to pay a little extra for having good copies of the module. So there I was at the library borrowing the book and talking to the guy in-charge of the copier. The book is a bit big, but could accommodate one bond paper with two pages once they resize it. However, he told me he couldn’t reduce the outcome to a single page and that there would be an additional charge to have them reduce it and if I wanted to have it my way, I’d have to go out of the building and then find a another copier.I asked them why and he referred me to the librarian (I think). When I asked them the reason, they just said the policy has changed.

Bad service, to think that I’m paying for the library and this is what they do to me? Fuck them. How come they suddenly increased the prices when I was able to have the same service at the same price without any problem before? Did they think that it would cost them more ink because they’d be printing 2 pages instead of one? Or did they just want to rip me off my money because they could charge me more if they’d print the copies in two pages than one. I don’t know if I’m still making any sense but c’mmon, this is supposed to be a school, I should have certain privileges for using their property. More so, they should be able to explain properly the sudden change of rates and be able to justify it rather than just let me deal with the situation myself. They should be student-and-budget-friendly.

Scene 3: Gate Entrance

I went out of the school gate because I had to do some research on the net. When I got back, the guard wouldn’t let me in because of my beard. I told the guard that I was already informed to cut it when I came in the earlier. I had to step out to do something and now they wouldn’t let me in. What I didn’t realize was he expected me to have them shaved/cut/sliced/diced/waxed/whatever as soon as I got out.

Because I was running a little late, I promised (even if I didn’t) to cut it when I get home. Probably because he didn’t like my tone, he still didn’t budge. I also told him that I only had one subject left but he still didn’t move.

I told him that I didn’t know anyone outside, and where do they expect me to get a razor in such short notice? Or even just scissors to cut those fucking strands off? (minus the cursing though). He implied that it wasn’t his problem anymore… it’s my problem anymore. toinks. He didn’t care how I do it, so long as I do it.

Funny thing, since I have a loud voice, was that I asked them for some scissors just to give them what they wanted but they didn’t have any. I tried to move away but he threatened to take my ID. Everybody was looking at me already for still persisting to go inside the campus and the guard still didn’t let go of me. That’s when I became aware that it wasn’t because of the beard anymore, it’s about showing who was in charge. What the fuck. I explained my side of the story again,

“Chief, I don’t have any money to buy a blade and I don’t know anyone outside school to borrow from. I already promised the lady guard awhile ago that I would have it shaved once I go home. I’m running late already and this is the only class I have left.  I can’t go home cause I live afar (like really way far), please let me in cause I need to attend a class.”

The thing that did the trick and the guard had to give in was when I said,

“Chief, I just got off from work and I don’t have any sleep; I just came to school for my last subject because of an exam. I promise that I would have this removed as soon as I get home.”

So many lies, but it worked. He let me in at that point. The reason why he was unyielding was because he probably expected me to have that have that puppy-dog-eyed look and beg. Wake up on the other side of the bed buster, I was wearing sunglasses so no doggy looks are going to happen this time!

How come teachers with long hair can enter the school without any problem and students can’t? Is it because they’re teachers? To think that we’re the ones paying them and they get all the privilege?

I don’t care if I sounded such a rebel. I’m not some son-of-a-gun who could be fooled easily then and there. Though I still get easily tricked at times, I’m not that much of an innocent goody-two shoes anymore.

But somehow, I amaze myself sometimes which makes me question if I’m that deceptive. Sheesh, I’m usually not spontaneous when it comes to making up stories but at that moment, the excuses I gave sounded all too natural.

I easily get annoyed or irritated nowadays. Most of the time I’d shout at the height of these boiling points without caring where I am just so I can release the tension and stress. But I know I should chill. Be cool, Ed. There are more important things to worry and rant about like the economic crisis and recession, focusing on the direction I want to pursue in life and getting laid. Now, you go back to your house, face the mirror and pick up the fucking razor!
